Shipping/Receiving Warehouse Clerk

UIW Mission


Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Clerk will be responsible for incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying and maintaining records, preparing items for shipment and coordinating transportation arrangements.The Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Clerk reports to the Fixed Asset Specialist.

Essential Functions


Job Duties


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently and multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in recording and documenting shipments.
  • Clear and effective communication with supplies, carriers and internal departments.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively work individually and within a team environment.
  • Ability to learn and safely use pallet jacks, and potentially a forklift.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
High School diploma or its equivalent.

Required Work Experience
At least three (3) months of experience in a similar role within a warehouse or distribution environment or relevant area such as mail delivery, packaging, and inventory control. Office experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and shipping platforms (e.g., UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.)


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive vehicles and golf carts for UIW.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 45lbs packages.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat to process ingoing/outgoing shipments.
  • Ability to push/pull pallet jacks, carts, and wagon holding up to 100 lbs +.
  • May involve exposure to varying temperatures and loud noises, typical of a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to regularly move about warehouse space and campus locations throughout the shift to process and deliver packages on main campus, as well as satellite locations.
  • Ability to safely maneuver vehicles and golf carts during standard shift.
